Mapping the Magic of Paraty
While working with the City of Paraty in Rio de Janeiro, I led the design of two printed maps aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and strengthening the city’s visual communication. The objective was to create pieces that were both practical and visually engaging, offering guidance to tourists while capturing the charm and character of Paraty.
One map highlights the city’s neighborhoods, key attractions, and essential local information. The second focuses on the coastline, showcasing islands, diving spots, and maritime landmarks for those exploring the bay. Both were designed to be informative, easy to navigate, and visually cohesive with the city’s identity.
I oversaw the full design process from layout to iconography, ensuring a clear hierarchy of information and a balanced visual language. The maps are distributed citywide, available at the official Tourist Information Center as well as hotels and tour agencies, reaching visitors at the key points of their journey.
The result is a pair of thoughtfully designed guides that serve not only as navigation tools but also as lasting impressions of Paraty, helping visitors connect more deeply with the city and its surroundings.
